Specialty Tool Cake

For the occasion of my dad’s 50th birthday I created this two-tiered cake with tool decorations. I wanted to add a personal touch to the cake and as he is a carpenter the idea for tool-shaped fondant cutouts came.

The top tier is almond sour cream cake with apricot fruit filling, the bottom a chocolate fudge cake with raspberry and lemon filling. The whole cake is iced in cream cheese buttercream and covered in fondant.

The dark and light blue stripes and pearl border match the decoration for the party.

Specialty First Birthday Cake

The birthday girl’s mom sent this lovely note afterwards:

I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful, precious cake! It was a real hit and we were more than pleased. You did a wonderful job and it tasted like heaven. Thank you for helping make our daughter’s first birthday an unforgettable one.

And she also included some really great, professional looking pictures of the cake as well.

Specialty Bridal Shower Cake

An extra special cake I created for a dear friend’s bridal shower. She is getting married in October and that in Germany, where she also will be living with her husband.

It is a two-layered red velvet cake with lemon filling and fresh raspberries inside. It is iced in raspberry-white chocolate meringue buttercream and covered in pearlized white fondant.

A heart border in different shades of teal and a teal coloured flower decorate the cake. The hearts and the border are dusted in pearl shimmer as well.

Specialty Kermit Cake

This is the cake I told you to watch out for. For her mother this time the customer ordered a Kermit themed cake. The scenery is inspired by Kermit’s song “Its not easy being green” where he sits on a log with a ukulele.

Kermit, the ukulele and the other decorations are made from gumpaste. The pond actually is blue jello.

It is a white cake with raspberry fruit filling, iced with raspberry-white chocolate buttercream and covered in fondant which is marbleized in different shades of green.

Specialty Country Backyardigans Cake

For a first birthday I created another children’s show themed novelty cake. This time its the Backyardigans. As the customer lives on a farm it was requested to have the characters in country-style. They are all wearing a cowboy hat, there is a farm fence around the first tier, and a horse is joining them as well.

Both tiers are vanilla white cake with vanilla buttercream. The bottom tier is covered in pink fondant and a stripe pattern is added with pearl dust.

Specialty Diego & Baby Jaguar Cake

I created this birthday cake themed around the children’s show “Go Diego Go” with special focus on Baby Jaguar.

It is a chocolate cake filled with raspberry fruit filling, iced with chocolate buttercream, and covered in light brown fondant. With chocolate fondant jaguar spots were added. All around there are jungle trees and bushes and a waterfall from marbled fondant is running down on one side.

On top rests a Diego & Baby Jaguar bubble machine. The bubbles can either be blown through a hand-held wand or Diego blows them through a moving wand on Baby Jaguar’s tail. The cake was delivered to Peachland.

It was a lot of fun creating this cake for the same customer I created the Specialty Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake for a few months ago. Look out for another one coming next week, she always has exciting theme suggestions.
