White and Dark Chocolate Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for a get-together at our place.

There are regular and mini cupcakes on an elevated brass stand. They are decorated with chocolate rolls and shavings. And to break it up a little there is an odd one with raspberry icing and decorated with butterflies.

The other flavors are lemon poppyseed cake with white chocolate icing and chocolate cake with chocolate icing.

Graduation Cupcake Tower

These cupcakes were created for a graduation party.
Half of the cupcakes feature peanut butter cup graduation caps (view tutorial here) and the other half have custom made toppers.

Including the school colors of black and gold there are inscriptions of the school name and the year 2011.

Flavors included chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter icing and lemon cake with cream cheese icing.

The cupcakes were displayed on a three-tiered cupcake tower, which was also personalized with ribbon in the school colors.

Graduation Caps Cake with Polka Dots

June is graduation month. This cake was created for a church graduation celebration. It is decorated with decoration caps from peanut butter cups. You can learn how to make those here.

There are also diploma scrolls made from fondant next to each cap. Furthermore there are yellow and red polka dots in many various sizes and 2011′s cut out from fondant.

The cake flavors are confetti with cherry filling and chocolate fudge cake with mocha buttercream.

Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Cake with Smash Cake

This fun and colorful Winnie the Pooh cake was created for a first birthday together with a small smash cake for the birthday boy.

The main cake is highlighted with a topper featuring Winnie, Tigger, and Piglet in a birthday scene. To match the topper additional fondant balloons on lollipop sticks decorate the top. There are also some fondant bushes flowers and bees.

Along the sides of both cakes there are more balloons, bees, bushes and flowers. Both are iced in vanilla bean buttercream tinted yellow. The flavors were vanilla bean cake with milk chocolate buttercream.

I put a video together featuring the different elements of the cake and close-ups of the highlights.

Gourmet Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Shavings

This specialty chocolate cake was ordered for a birthday boy here in Kelowna by is family that lives out of town. As a surprise it was delivered to his workplace together with a birthday card and balloon.

It was a chocolate fudge cake with bavarian cream filling and chocolate buttercream. It is decorated with dark chocolate rolls and white chocolate shavings. The piped chocolate buttercream shell border as well as the rosettes are highlighted with golden sugar pearls.

Not for all orders am I given a certain theme. And while I have no problem designing a cake with a female design (the flower options are endless) it is not quite as easy for a male cake. I find that designs incorporating the pure color of chocolate is one of the best ways for a simpler male birthday cake.

A similar theme was also used in this cake.
