Wedding Cupcake Tower in Apple Green & Chocolate Brown

This post is somewhat like a blast from the past.
I created these cupcakes and topper cake for a wonderful couple for their wedding cupcake tower. Somehow I missed posting about it, but I think the color theme fits greatly now with St. Patrick’s Day coming up.
The chocolate and vanilla cupcakes were topped with vanilla bean, chocolate and thin mint buttercream swirls.
The topper cake was chocolate cake with raspberry fruit filling. It was covered in white fondant with a quilting pattern, decorated with an apple green ribbon and finished with brown buttercream dots.
The wedding was set on a beautiful acreage with an apple orchard, hence the couple’s decision to include apple green as their wedding color.
It was a very hot late summer afternoon and I was totally occupied with getting the cupcakes there and set-up without any damage from the sun’s heat, that I entirely forgot to take my camera along for a shot of the finished set-up. But the bride sent me these pictures from other wedding guests. Thank you very much.
The couple also left this great feedback:
“I just want to say that the cake and cupcakes were absolutely perfect! Everyone gobbled them up in minutes, and they looked stunning with all the decorations. Thank you for making it so special.”
Farm Animals Wedding Cupcake Tower
This was by far the most unusual request I have received for a wedding cupcake tower.
The couple was getting married in a beautiful outdoor wedding on their own acreage. They requested to include many elements of their farm life into the cupcake decorations.
The animals that can be found on their farm and also made from fondant on the cupcakes are donkeys, fish, frogs, chickens, a cat, and their German Shepherd.
They are also growing tomatoes and peas in their own garden which can also be found on the cupcakes.
For the topper cake the bride had the humorous idea to include a scene also occurring on their farm of a coyote stealing away a chicken.
This scene definitely received the most comments from the guests who saw me set up the cupcake tower.
As the bride and part of the wedding party were vegan half of the cupcakes were entirely vegan including the fondant decorations.
Cupcakes flavors included vanilla with vanilla buttercream, and chocolate with chocolate buttercream. The topper cake was chocolate with raspberry fruit filling and pale green vanilla buttercream.
Motocross Wedding Cake Topper
For a wedding a few months ago I was asked to create this customized wedding cake topper which includes the couple’s love for motocross.
The bride and groom made from gumpaste are sitting on two miniature dirt bikes that the brother of bride provided.
He painted them to look like the couple’s actual bikes.
Grape Vines Wedding Cake
Jen and Don had a special fall wedding at the Summerhill Pyramid Winery in the Okanagan Valley.
Fitting the season and location they decided on purple-blue fondant grape vines to decorate their three tiered wedding cake.
The cake was covered in ivory fondant with ruffled edges. The cake flavors were red velvet with cream cheese, lemon poppy-seed with vanilla, and hazelnut with hazelnut buttercream.
Here is a picture of the beautiful set-up they had prepared at the reception hall:
The couple send this lovely email after the wedding:
The cake turned out FANTASTIC!!! You did such an amazing job at capturing exactly what we wanted. Our guests still talk about how tasty it was to this day.
So THANK YOU for creating us the most memorable cake for our day! We will never forget it!![]()
Sincerely,
Jen and Don
Specialty Ivory Fantasy Flower Wedding Cake
I was very happy and honoured to create this small wedding cake which was made after the design of my own wedding cake.
Instead of royal blue there is an ivory colored fantasy flower with crystal stamens on top of the cake. A matching ivory satin ribbon makes the elegant border, which is finished off with crystal pins as well.
It is a carrot cake with vanilla bean silk meringue buttercream. The cake was delivered to The Harvest Golf Club here in Kelowna
Hot Pink and Lime Green Cascading Flowers Wedding Cake
I was looking forward to sharing this cake with you all and am very happy to do so now. The bride’s only specifications were that it be a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, covered in white fondant with cascading flowers and that the colors were hot pink and lime green.
There were different ideas on my mind of piping buttercream flowers but in the end I decided for gumpaste flowers thinking those would display the vibrant colors best. Also I was looking forward to the opportunity to decorate a cake with a multitude of gumpaste flowers for a while already.
As a sample I was given this page of bridal bouquets in hot pink and lime green made by the talented florists at Sprout. I ended up using as inspiration the flowers they used.
The tiers are separated with shell borders from white icing. On the top tier thrones a modern bridal couple wedding cake topper.
With the help of my wonderful husband the cake was delivered to the Executive Boardroom, the houseboat where the wedding was held.
I shot a little video of the cake before delivering it to show you more of the details. Definitely I need to work on my video taking skills (tripod next time..) especially for tall cakes, but bear with me. And I will be more than happy to hear any tips or tricks you might have.
