Mother’s Day Cake

13 May
For our church’s Mother’s Day luncheon I was asked to create this floral themed cake.
It was one layer of moist chocolate fudge cake with another layer of vanilla bean cake separated by light chocolate mousse filling.

The cake is iced in vanilla buttercream. The vine and scroll pipings are buttercream too with fondant pink and purple flowers. The centers are white sugar pearls.

I talked to the decorating team for some design ideas, and they showed me the napkins that were going to be used. The cake design was based on those light green napkins with big pink and purple flowers.
