It is graduation season. One item that I have used on several occasions for graduations cupcakes and cakes are graduation hats made from peanut butter cups. Below I will show you step by step how to create these.
I am starting with a bag of miniature peanut butter cups. Any brand will work of course. Unwrap the candies and carefully remove the liner. You don’t want any chocolate pulling away from the candy and sticking to the liner.
You also need a bag of square chocolates. Again, the brand does not matter. If the chocolates have any marking or imprint on top, you will have to turn them around and have the backside as you grad cap top.
Next, I am melting a few chocolate chips and drizzle just a little bit of the melted chocolate on a peanut butter cup. Then I am placing a chocolate square (smooth side up) centered onto the candy.
For the cord on the grad caps I am using striped bands of gummy candy. To separate the colors I make a little cut and then just pull them apart. Cut to required length.
Attach the cords to the peanut butter caps with a tiny bit of melted chocolate underneath the tip.
And here are the finished peanut butter cup graduation caps:
And these are just some of the wrappers you will end up with 😉
Maybe I just ended up with to many wrappers because many of the peanut butter cups had two or three liners around them. But this one topped them all:
You counted right. It was wrapped in 6 (!) liners!!
If anyone can top this number with even more liners on a peanut butter cup they, ate let me know through the comment section.
Stay tuned this month for pictures of graduation cupcakes and a graduation cake with peanut butter cups graduation caps.
